Charge Entry Specialist

Responsible for daily charge entry and reconciliation to ensure accounts receivable reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Posts charges provided by client by assigned batch.
  • Reconciles charges by batch
  • Audits and submits correction requests for charge entry review.
  • Requests supporting documentation for corrections.
  • Maintain individual insurance requirements for claims processing.
  • Audit for the appropriate modifier.
  • Participates in educational activities.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent; formal training or degree in accounting/business administration and a minimum of two years previous experience working in accounting; computer literacy with a working knowledge of insurance and third party payments, financial and statistical reports and spreadsheet and word processing software; and the ability to work compatibly with physicians and other staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of patient account policies and practices of clinic.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Skill in using computer programs and a calculator.
  • Skill in computation, typing and filing.
  • Ability to make mathematical computations.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients and co-workers.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.

ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment. Occasional overtime. Mandatory overtime at month end.
